I love my breakfast smoothies, but I don’t like drinking cold smoothies in winter. So I have been experimenting with hot smoothies and they are actually quite good, I mean deliciously good. That’s only when I get the combinations right, some of them are not so good.
Here’s my favourite hot smoothie recipe to help you get through these winter mornings. It’s creamy, with a caffeine kick and tastes like a mocha milkshake.
1/4 cup warm coffee
1/2 cup almond milk
1 Tablespoon cacao powder
1 Tablespoon almond/peanut butter
1 teaspoon maca powder (optional)
1 medjool date (optional)
Heat milk in a saucepan over medium heat until bubbles start forming on the bottom. Or if you are short on time simply microwave for 30 seconds.
Throw everything into a blender and blend until smooth. Serve in a glass and enjoy
Note: Do not blend hot liquids in the blender. If the milk gets too hot, allow it to cool before blending.
