There’s something about green smoothies that make you feel amazing from the inside-out. All that healthy goodness makes you feel nourished, energised and alive.
I adore green smoothies, even more so without the addition of fruit. I love the delicious tangy, it’s so refreshing and gives me life. I’m not crazy, but there’s nothing quite like the feels you get from green smoothies.
Don’t let the green colour scare you off, It doesn’t taste anything like spinach.
Quick tips on how to make the perfect smoothie bowls
Make them thick – You know the consistency of nice cream, make your smoothie that thick. This stops your toppings from sinking and also makes it easier to eat with a spoon.
Toppings – I think when it comes to smoothie bowls, it’s all about the toppings. Choose your toppings carefully, you want colours that pop and contrast your smoothie.
Add some crunchiness – You have a thick smoothie as a base. Then you top it up with fruits which are soft. Now it’s time to add some texture to it such as nuts, seeds, granola, shredded coconut etc.
- 1-2 cups spinach
- 1 banana
- 1/2 cup mango
- A handful of almonds
- 3/4 cup coconut water
- TOPPINGS: fresh fruits, nuts and seeds
- Add spinach, banana, mango, almonds and coconut water to a blender and blend until smooth.
- Pour into a bowl and top with fruits, nuts and seeds.
