Superfood Tonic

I’m really into tonics right now. Ok, maybe a little obsessed. I have been mixing up all sorts of ingredients in many different ways.

This superfood tonic is a winner. It is delightfully refreshing, super-energising and downright delicious. It’s tangy, with the perfect hint of sweetness and spice. It combines several amazing superfoods that are beneficial to our overall health and wellness.

Lets explore the benefits of each ingredient.

Parsley tea: Immune booster, powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, supports healthy kidney and liver function, aids in digestion, and rich in cancer-fighting properties.

Maca: This superfood is known to balance hormones, improve sexual function, increase fertility and increase energy and boost immunity.

Baobab powder: A nutritional powerhouse that has twice more calcium than milk, 4x more potassium than a banana, 6x more vitamin C than an orange and 6x more antioxidants than blueberries. In Africa, baobab powder is widely to treat a range illnesses such as malaria, fevers, gut issues and vitamin C deficiency.

Apple cider vinegar: Aids in weight loss and digestion, lowers blood pressure, and has pain relieving properties. I absolutely adore apple cider vinegar, I take shots of it when I’m bloated, have or have a headache or stomachache, and it goes away almost instantly.

Cayenne pepper: Boosts immunity due to its high content of beta-carotene, aids in digestion and detoxifies the body.  It also helps with inflammation and weight-loss. I love the spicy kick it adds to this tonic.

Lemon juice: Detoxifies the body, aids in digestion and weight loss. Boosts energy and mood and keeps your skin glowing. Also chock-full of vitamin C. I can’t live without lemons. The name of my blog came from my love of lemons.

Superfood Tonic

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brewed fresh parsley tea
  • 1 tablespoon baobab powder
  • 1 tablespoon maca
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. To make the parsley tea, simply add a bunch of parsley to a teapot or cup and pour hot water over it. Leave it to brew for 5 minutes.
  2. Add all the other ingredients to the tea and mix well.
  3. Serve and enjoy
