Raspberry – Oat smoothie

I don’t just make smoothies, I create art. There’s so much truth to the saying, ‘you eat with your eyes’. When I see a meal that looks appealing, I’m instantly sold that by the time I get to the odour and taste I have already finished eating with my eyes. I think our perception is largely influenced by the outward appearance. Take for example, when you meet someone the way they look is the first thing you notice and that often determines whether you will pursue them or not. We all do it, and I think we do it subconsciously just like blinking our eyes.

So I think what happens is, the eyes send a message to the brain and says I think this meal is delicious then brain sends a message to the taste buds and says prepare yourself there’s some delicious food coming your way. And as a result the food taste good when you finally eat it because your brain and tongue have already registered. It sounds a bit crazy I know but I think that’s how it works for me, there hasn’t been many visually appealing meals that I didn’t like. So that’s why I like to spend a little extra time on my food and smoothies, making them look appealing to the eye. Enjoy this raspberry oat smoothie

Raspberry and oat smoothie

Ingredients

1 frozen bananas
1/2 cup raspberries
1 Tablespoon peanut butter
1/4 cup oats
1 date
250ml almond milk

Method

Throw everything in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass, and top with raspberries and melted dark chocolate.
