Post-Christmas Detox Salad

The best detox salad creation ever. I’m totally obsessed! 

Sometimes, despite all our efforts things don’t always go to plan. Maybe you planned to have a healthy Christmas this year, but you ended up in a food coma. Don’t despair, it’s not too late to press the reset button. Here’s a delicious detox salad to get you started.

I went on a pre-Christmas detox at the beginning of December. No, not that kind of detox. My approach to detoxing has evolved over the years. I used to be the queen of yo yo dieting back in the day. I once did the lemon detox for 21 days and lost 15 kilos. Yes, that’s right a whooping 15 kilos in 3 weeks. But shortly after, I gained it all back plus an extra 5 kilos. I don’t do yo-yo dieting anymore, I know better now. For the pre-Christmas detox, I simply eliminated heavy carbs, processed foods, grains and sugar and I ate mostly raw foods.

Unhealthy dieting doesn’t work. Instead, make lifestyle changes that you know you can stick to over-time. 

I created this salad during the detox. It’s chock full of good for you veggies such as red cabbage, bean sprouts, avocado. It’s perfect for when you want to give your body that healthy boost.

Detox Salad

Ingredients

  • 2 cups mixed bean sprouts
  • 1 cup alfalfa sprouts
  • 1 packet baby kale
  • 1/4 head red cabbage, sliced
  • 1/2 cup sliced red pepper
  • 1 avocado, chopped
  • Olive oil
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Chilli flakes
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Throw all the veggies into a large bowl. Drizzle olive oil and lemon juice and sprinkle chilli flakes and salt and pepper.
  2. Toss everything together, and serve.
