Cacao + maca = a match made in superfood heaven!
If I served you this hot chocolate, you would never know it was healthy and so good for you. It taste just as good if not better than your regular hot chocolate. It’s incredibly delicious, warming and comforting. I have been drinking this hot chocolate for a long time. It’s perfect for those winter months but I drink it all year round.
What’s great about this hot chocolate is that it combines two of my favourite superfoods; cacao and maca. Cacao is packed with antioxidants, fibre and magnesium which helps with immunity and muscle contraction. Maca is known to increase fertility, balance hormones, increase energy and boost immunity. It also improves sexual function and memory.
On most days, by 3pm the kids have completely worn me out and that’s when I whip up this energy boosting hot chocolate to get me through the day. It’s also great for menstrual cramps as both the cacao and maca relaxes the muscles and eases the discomfort.
To make this hot chocolate, simpIy add all the ingredients to a blender and whizz it up then gently heat and serve.
- 1 cup almond/coconut milk
- 1 cup water
- 2 Tablespoon raw cacao powder
- 2 Tablespoon maca powder (optional)
- 2 medjool dates, pitted
- 2 Tablespoon coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
- Add all the ingredients to a blender, and blend until smooth. Transfer to a saucepan and heat gently.
- Pour into two mugs, and enjoy.
