I am in love with this turmeric oatmeal. Well, I keep falling in love with anything that has turmeric. Seriously considering changing the name of my blog to ‘a dash of turmeric’. Sounds awesome, right? Maybe ‘a pinch of turmeric’ would be better.
I created this recipe a few months ago and I’m not sure why I have waited this long to share it with you all. Oh well, that doesn’t matter now because it’s finally here and you are going to love it.
In case you haven’t heard of it, turmeric is so HOT right now. This powerful spice has a glowing list of uses and health benefits. It is well-known for its natural anti-inflammatory properties and powerful antioxidants.
This porridge is deliciously creamy and will warm any cold heart. The turmeric adds an exotic and earthy flavour to the porridge. I topped it up with banana, peanut butter, dark chocolate, blueberries and chia seeds. I didn’t add any sugar, the banana, and berries provided the perfect hint of sweetness.
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1 cup water
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ginger
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tsp maca
- Pinch of salt
- In a saucepan, combine milk, water, oats and turmeric and cook on medium heat stirring occasionally until the liquid is absorbed and the oats are thick and creamy about 10 minutes.
- Add the rest of the ingredients and stir well to combine.
- Pour oatmeal into bowls and top with your favourite toppings.
