If you are new to sauerkraut and would like to get started, please come this way how-to-make-sauerkraut
- Straight out of the jar
Yes, straight off the fork is my absolute favourite way to eat sauerkraut. I’ve been known to sit in front of the tv with a jar of kraut. That’s how much I love it. When you are craving something sour like salt and vinegar chips, just reach for the jar of kraut.
2. As a condiment
This is how I eat sauerkraut most of the time. I just add it to whatever I’m eating. Kraut makes a great condiment, pairs well with almost anything and adds a delicious zing. You can find recipe for this gut-healing bowl here
3. On toast
Avocado and sauerkraut on toast is amazing. You are probably thinking, this is nothing new because avocado is amazing with pretty much anything. But trust me, kraut beats everything you have paired with avocado. It’s seriously good, I could eat this every single day.
4. In a salad
I simply toss sauerkraut into a salad and use the juice as salad dressing. It’s delicious. Check out the recipe for this rainbow bowl here.
I also add sauerkraut to smoothies. It adds a really nice tangy flavour which I really love. Next time you make a green smoothie, try adding a tablespoon of kraut and see how you go. You never know, it might turn into love at first sip.
Although it removes the health benefits, sauerkraut taste amazing cooked. Cook it in a little bit of oil, and add spices. Or add it to soups and stews.
I would love to know other ways you eat sauerkraut so please leave me a comment below. xx
